Back flexibility can be a tough one for us adult ballet starters! But it’s so crucial for captivating arabesques and cambres. A well rounded back extension curve contributes to beautiful ballet lines, and it also should feel good in the body. Conventional stretching techniques for the back can be overwhelming and feel like “too much” and very unpleasant for people who get to it later in life. This 12-day course takes an entirely different approach to that arabesque swoosh: Leg swings in a high-repetition range. Yes, it may look funny when you stand there and swing your legs for minutes at a time, but the thousands of repetitions are a very strong stimulus to the learning, neuroplastic brain.
